Root Update from 2.0 to 2.1 - Questions

Im about to update as the sticky says, BUT first I need a back up plan.

I ve synced my contacts with gmail, therefore when I connect the phone with the new OS, Will it sync??

Im downloading the OS from motorola_milestone:sbf [And Developers]
There is a TIM version (my phone company here in Brazil). If the update goes wrong and I put the TIM one, will I be able to say to TIM I didn t updated the phone and that the OS is original?

Can I make a back up of MY actual OS and incase the update crashes, just restore it?

Is the 2.2 relaible?
Show I go for 2.1. or 2.2??? What s better???

Thanks
Juan

Hey Juan. check out the posts by JohnM109R & Blue1k in the How do I do a Nandroid Backup (Telus Milestone) thread.
Though you're not using a Telus version, the method is the same.
Of the two, I'd recommend Open Recovery, it's the easiest one to do.

Nandroid makes a copy of exactly what is on your phone when you make it. So worst case scenario you muck up your phone, you can revert back to this backup.
