Help update from 2.2 to 2.3

is it possible to update from 2.2 to 2.3 without rooting the phone?? I have a tmobile galaxy s. Can the phone update itself??

You need to download Kies from the Samsung website. Connect your phone and you'll see an update flashing.

Be warned though Samsung Kies is a ridiculously, temperamental and all-round BADLY developed piece of software.

since its bad.... would it be better to stay on 2.2??

Definitely update to 2.3, it addresses a lot of issues with 2.2. I was just saying Kies will irritate you
