Update notification

I'm on O2 in the UK. I've just had the 4.3 update pushed to me via the network. I'm not sure that I actually want to do this update. My phone is working fine as it is and I don't want all the hassle of doing a factory reset and all the backing up and restoring that goes with it. I've got a lot of work stuff and different photo albums set up the way I want it, and also some people have reported problems after installing the update. However, I now have the update notification permanently displayed in the top left corner of the phone, and every three hours it asks me if I want to upgrade (three hours being the longest I can delay it for).

Is there any way to remove this notification and reminder. I'd quite like to keep the update file on the phone in case I do need/want to upgrade, but I don't want to keep being prompted to do it.

Out of interest will I still be able to use the phone as a wifi hotspot if I upgrade.

One thing I know, if your with AT&T you won't have tethering options.
Outside of AT&T, there are a lot of complaints and problems with this update.
Search this site and you will see...
I'd hold off, I did. The phone is working just fine, why fix something that isn't broke?

Its a hard one to answer mate. Yeah youll still have tethering if you update (in the UK) but i cant guarantee the update wont be buggy.
Do you have many apps on the phone?

I am in the same situation with the 4.3 upgrade. I have found that if I open any app immediately after power-up, I don't get the "Do you want to update" pop-up window. It just does a quick "Software Update" notification at the bottom of the screen and puts the notification icon on the status bar. If the Pop-up window does appear, pressing the Home key kills it. I decided I can live with this minor annoyance until a reasonably bug free version is available. (probably 4.4)
