Update patches root exploit?

Does anyone know if the "MR1 DG27" update that's available for the Epic fix the root exploit?

I'm tempted to update but I don't want to end up with an un-rootable phone!

EDIT: Whoops, sorry should have posted in the Rooting sub-forum! Could a Mod kindly move this thread?

i wouldn't do it anyway. no telling what it changes currently. you'll save yourself some trouble if you avoid updates unless baked into a ROM.

Hmm, found more info about the update here: Samsung Epic:8/31 - Samsung Epic Launch Software

So apparently my Epic was one of the first built, before they updated.

I think I'm just going to update and hope for the best. It seems this update was developed before the Root exploit was discovered.

thanks. i was holding off from updating because i wanted to find out first what it does or doesn't do.

They updated my phone without even asking when I picked it up this morning.

I can tell you that the "one click root" does in fact work
