It is entirely up to the user.
You have some things to consider:
1. Signal strength
2. Speed - 4G LTE connectivity
3. Load ratio - dropped calls or inferior call quality
4. Mobility - towers that could benefit you when you are out and about but won't because they aren't on the tower list on your phone
So the point is that if those things don't concern you then don't update.
Bare in mind though - if you have a brand new phone you may already have the latest tower list on it so it may not make things any better until someone installs/fixes/updates the towers in your service area.
All in all.. It won't hurt or break anything if you do it, and you never know, it just might make things better..
