Help Update Question

Hi, I'd be really grateful if anyone could answer a question for me:

I am in the UK but have an SM-N910T (USA I understand) branded to T-Mobile but unlocked and using TalkMobile. Currently running Android 5.1.1 but everything points to an aupdate to Android 6 already having been rolled out.

I really want it to update to Android 6 - being in the UK and not on T-Mobile, will it do this automagically?

US carriers are notorious for locking their phones in a way that it will only receive updates if a SIM for that network is inserted. In your case, you'd need a TMobile SIM in your phone to receive th OTA update. I do not know if updating via PC using the Smar Switch program is affected as well.

You could always download the current version from SamMobile and install with Odin. I would back anything I wanted to keep just in case it wipes data.

And one more thing, even if you have "their SIM" the phone will NOT update OTA unless it is inside the USA on their network, or it is on a WiFi that thinks it is inside the USA....
