Update software

So I'm currently using Samsung Galaxy Y, and I wanna update the software. But the problem is, will my phone memory become low as I update the software?
 
The phone will have as much memory as it has. Will the update use more memory? That depends on whether you're talking about RAM or storage, and what version you're updating from and to.
