Update to One UI?

"Samsung One UI Home" is available in Google Play to replace the current "TouchWiz Home". Will updating to this new launcher slow down my phone as "One UI" was made for newer models? I already skipped the latest security patch/update available to my device because the last one slowed down the phone a bit.
What was your experience after installing "One UI" on the J5?

your phone is from 2016 so anything now will slow the phone down as it ages. phones these days last about 3-4 years due to battery life issues and just wear and tear on the processing chip. one ui works great on my note 10+, but i do not have your phone so i can't say much for yours. now might be a good time to start looking for an upgrade. the holiday season is right around the corner and you can get some really good deals on phones.......just a thought.

If you install the very latest nova 6.1.3 beta, unread counts are built into nova natively.
I'm still using a older version of Nova.
