Root Update without the OTA process?

I have the three hundred and something meg zip file on root of my card. Can't I successfully install it right now without anything else? Rooted of course.

I do not care about fast boot or anything, since about 95% going to the SG3, sooner than later.

Wonder why the file is so huge?
Dunno, but it works. I just updated mine to ICS a little while ago and love it so far. Got a notification that the update was coming but didn't want to wait so I updated using that method and all went well. Even got the notification again after I was already running ICS lol

Going to take some getting used to. I've been running ICS on my Iconia A500 tablet but it's quite a bit different on a phone.

Seemed too many steps to me, unless I read too much into it. I have the stock rom, but the Razr is rooted. What are the steps from that, assuming you were in the same position.

Thanks

Assuming all is stock and hasn't been deleted or frozen or boot/safestrapped. Download Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper from the market. Open it. Protect root AND temp unroot. When update is complete, go back in and restore root.

can anybody provide a step by step for a first timer on a stock razr. I'm coming from an HTC Evo and pretty familiar with getting into recovery and flashing based on what I did on that phone but I'm a newbie to the razr. Much appreciated!
