Hello,

First of all I want to aplogize if there is already a theme or I missplaced mine.

I just got Prestigio Multipad PMP558OC and it runs on Android 4.0.4, now I saw there is newer Android Version 4.2. I would like to know is it possible to update my Tablet to newer version?

Thanks.

Hi Alex, and welcome to AF :)

If Prestigio make a 4.2 update you should be able to download and update it from the tablet. There should be a software update option in the menu somewhere.

If they don't, then you can't unless you root the device (a procedure which is different for different devices) and some independent developer builds a newer Android version for your tablet. I can't see a forum here for your device or at xda-developers, so can't tell whether anyone has done this.

You can't download a "generic" android 4.2 and install it, as it needs to be buiit for the particular device. My advice would be to find the software updates menu and check occasionally to see whether one has been released by the manufacturer.

Sorry I can't offer anything better.

It is like Hadron said. But if you want to know if 4.2 will become available, you should contact the manufacturer on their website or email.

You could root your device, but there has to be a ROM available. And you have to know that it involves risks like bricking your device. When you don't have a backup/recovery, then it will be really hard to make your device working again.

I have tried looking on Google but I really can't find any ROM's available for your device as it seems your device just isn't that popular. Sorry :(
