Root Updated Adobe Flash, now no way to unlock phone..`

I am running MikG 3.11 on my Evo 4G. I got a notice this morning that there was an update for Adobe Flash. I started the update and then the phone shut off. When I started it back up, I got the time, signal bars, txt notice, and email notice. That is it. Nothing else. I have pulled the battery and let it sit, nothing. It sounds like I need to reflash?

I did a nandroid and used TB to back up everything a couple of weeks ago. But the problem is, I was out of town last week, started my home computer Sunday night and it says "Disk read write error, press cntrl alt delete to restart"... so I have to figrue that out so I can get my files... gotta love it.

I guess I would try to boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache, then reboot.
If that doesnt work, boot back into recovery again and "fix uid mismatch", then reboot.

That's very strange that the phone rebooted after a flash update. It almost sounds like it was a maliscious app.

Anyway, either nandroid or reflash your Rom if the above poster's steps don't work.

I wiped the cache and dalvik cache with no luck. I then did the fix apk uid mismatch, with no luck either.

Any other ideas?

Thanks....

Since I am having difficulty getting my nandroid at the moment, when I reflash the rom, will it wipe everything out, or just reflash from the sd card?

Wipe all except sd card, reflash rom....the rom itself will wipe...however I have heard that Rxpert has a modified version that will not wipe....Perhaps he will post it?:)

Just so I understand, does the rom wipe the sd card? Should I do a nandroid restore?

It is terrible..lol, my phone rings, txt msgs come in, email notifications show up...lol but can't do anything about them...

If you can, I would restore from a previous nandroid.
The rom itself, when flashed, will not wipe the sd card contents, just data/sytem, and some other stuff in addition to you wiping everything else...just don't wipe your sd card....it will be as if you first flashed the rom...gotta set up everything.
So I would restore from a nand backup if you have one....

Just a general rehash for the OP:
MikG will wipe all of the important partitions except for the SD card. This is a problem because a solution for many problems can be just wiping dalvik cache and cache and reflashing the ROM. In doing so you would normally not lose the data partition. Reflashing MikG will cause you to lose the data partition.

I had made a modified version of MikG as Mikestony mentioned that would not wipe anything. Unfortunately, it is no longer in my dropbox. I would PM JoJo and see if she still has the copy I made specifically for an issue like this she was having. I know a few other people downloaded it as well so its still gotta be floating around somewhere.

If not, I could always make it again. I just dont trust my internet here to upload it. I guess I could just upload the modified updater-script and you could replace it in the ROM.

Well I did the nand restore and it fixed it. Thanks... It was from May 23, 2012 so not too old and haven't loaded too many programs but did update some so I will have to do that. But thats ok... Not sure what happened.

Another question, if you flash the rom and it wipes the SD partition, won't that wipe everythingout on the sd card? I have mine partitioned so just curious if I ever have to reflash in an emergency.

Again, thanks for everyone's help....

No, the partition stores your apps if you are using darktremors a2sd., not the sd card contents...so if you wipe the sd:ext, you are wiping your apps out. If you have TB, they will be there to restore later.

Your Card typically consists of a few different sections:

SD==============This is the whole card and wiping it will wipe everything. Do NOT wipe this unless you mean to wipe the entire card clear. Do NOT wipe this for normal ROM flashes.

SD-android.secure===This is where your apps go if you use the built in Apps2SD. Wipe this for every ROM flash

SD-EXT===========This is your SD card's partition if you have partitioned it. Wiping this clears out all of your apps. You can sometimes get away with not wiping this in between ROM flashing, but I always suggest wiping it and restoring them with TB
