OP has flashable version of gapps with both the "new" market v 3.0.26 and the even newer version v 3.0.27.

I flashed 3.0.27 and my apps actually download over wifi now without taking a few mins to begin. There are also links to the apks for just the markets if you want to try to sideload them, I would think it would be possible with maybe just an uninstall updates.

Could someone please explain when Google Market is needed and how to install (flash) it.

Being new to flashing ROM's, I did find out that after installing CM7, it did not include the Market App. I also found out that ROM Manager has the ability to get Google Apps in the "Download ROM" section of the program. Is that the same as the subject of this thread?

Also, how is one to know if a custom ROM has market or not?

Thanks for all the knowledge sharing on these threads.

Read the threads about the rom to find out if you need to flash gapps, it will tell you almost all the times if you need to flash it in the first 2 posts. I wouldn't download via rom manager, if you are going to download on your phone just use the browser it works faster and with less errors.

You flash it like a normal rom in clockworkmod but you do not wipe first you can make a backup if you feel it is needed. I think almost all sense roms have gapps, I think Liquid thunderbread is the only AOSP rom with gapps
