I have a one year old htc evo 4g. When purchased I was offered a tether app for unlimited tether time. I did not know at the time that this rooted the phone. Now I am unable to update the phone. Is there any way to reverse the root and bring the phone back to its original condition? I believe the problem is that the security must be reinstalled.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums, nsheff.

HTC EVO 4G - Android Forums is the device forum area where you'll find other users of the EVO 4G, all willing to help you with your updating issue.

In there you'll find the EVO All Things Root sub-forum:

EVO 4G - All Things Root - Android Forums

which is probably the best place to post your rooted EVO updating problem. ;)

Hello and welcome to Android Forum. I'm sure there are ways of reverting your device to its normal factory functionality. You definitely wouldn't want to take your device in for repairs (in the case of something gone wrong with it) and it is rooted. That would surely cause you to have to either pay for the repairs or go through your phone insurance company.

Good luck on your quest to have this issue resolved. :)
