Updating apps from market slows down phone?

whenever i update an app during the process of it downloading and installing it my phone runs really slow. i dont have a problem if im downloading a file in the background on the browser so i was just wondering if its only me this happens to.

Same here guess it is the install process that halts other processes until it is done. guess to keep something from getting messed up.

The phone is fine for me when I'm downloading, but I definitely notice a bit of lag when the app is installing.

I think everyone experiences this. I'm guessing it just devotes everything to installing the app until it is finished.

Its the same thing on your computer, if you're installing something its pushing the processor to its limits which has the downside of slowing down the phone. Simple answer, dont install updates while trying to do other things. They take < 30 seconds in most cases so not a huge deal.

This is much better on 2.2 thanks to the JIT compiler. Installs are 2-3x faster and don't slow the phone down at all! :P

Pfft, I haven't had that happen on a computer in 5 years. Time to upgrade from that single core man. :D

On topic, this is almost a non-issue with Froyo.

Word. Installing on a PC should only stress your file storage system, not the processor. It's just copying files and updating the registry.
