Updating apps, important or not?

I have a LG optimus slider, and it only comes with 184mb of internal space and a max to 32gig external sd card. I have this device for a little over a month, and I'm pretty much satisfied up until now. With only 184 internal space, I downloaded approximately 84 apps which left my internal space with only 30mb. Just recently, I updated 10 of my installed apps and GODDAMN that 30mb internal space went down to 15mb. I was so shocked and upset that I ended up having to removed 6 apps. My phone is rooted, and I do have a cache cleaner and LINKS2SD which can force move some of the installed apps to SD. But I guess that's all I can do for now.. I was just wondering if updating apps are important? Prior to updating, all of my apps run smoothly, and now many of them has force close; it also added more than 10mb of memory.. I know I can get a better phone, but I like this phone because of the keyboard. What are your suggestion? Is there a way to move google maps to SD card? Many of the apps are still on the internal memory when moving it to SD. I cannot enjoy my phone if it's under 20mb of internal memory. The only way to I can think of is to stop updating my apps.

I actually back up my app using es explorer before I update. There has been a few times that I have had an update that was worse than the previous version. This allows me to delete the update and reload the prior version. Eg. about 6 months ago, the various Yahoo mail updates were very glitchy. I just went back 3 or 4 versions which was stable and just kept using it until a new stable version was released. Usually, i prefer to update to get the most current features. There are only a few apps which I have not updated eg. Maps, Facebook because I do not use them and they take up a lot of memory. Dropbox because I have read that the latest update changes the UI in a way which I would prefer to avoid.

My device only takes up 184mb, but I have installed atleast 84 apps with a total of 184 apps installed on this 184mb internal memory. I went from 15mb internal memory because of (updating) to 40mb internal memory. I find a way to force move most apps to SD card. This includes twitter, facebook, google maps, gmail, voice search etc. I'm not sure if it's bad for my SD card or device but oh well, atleast I have more space then I had before. Also, I unclicked auto update on google.play but leave notification on which will notify me about updates on games or apps. For those of you who have internal space like I do, my advice to you is to not update your apps.. If for ever reason you need to, do it manually.

There shouldn't be any detriment to your phone or SD card. All you really risk is the functionality of widgets, as I doing believe those can run from the card.

I have asked this question many times and have been told that the apps pre installed do not NEED updating unless, like a previous post mentioned, you want the current features or updated icon etc. I uninstall updates on all but a few as well since I dont use them and phone runs fine.

I wish I would have saved my previous fb app before accidently updating.. I would rly like to get back to the version previous to 1.9.12..can anyone help me? I have an android replenish w/boost

Nothing useful on https://google.com/search?q=facebook+android+apk ?

There's a 1.9.9 there if you're willing to trust it, but that's your decision to make.

BTW, your reply to a thread that's over a half-year old gives the appearance of you doing some forum searching before you posted, so good on ya, mite.
