Updating Baseband

what happens to the phone when you update the baseband?

Does the phone reset to factory settings or do your apps etc stay installed?

been thinking about updating to a new rom / theme that requires the new baseband

just dont want to brick my phone!

Everything gets restored to the factory settings,just make sure to back up your contacts,apps and whater ever else you want.Use Titanium back up. Are you rooted ?
