I bought my gf a second-hand Hero online. It seems the software loaded on it is some kind of Chinese software. She's unable to sync her Google account to the phone, even after trying factory reset and doing it at setup.
I've also been unable to upgrade the software to Android 2.1, I downloaded the ROM from the UK site but HTC sync doesn't seem to recognise the software on the phone. It can tell there's a Hero plugged in, but it doesn't show any of the contacts, photos, music etc.
If its of any use the software version is: www/HiAPK/com (replace slashes with dots, this my first post so I can't include links) 1.2_g3_sense
