Help Updating custom ROM

garyasta

Newbie
I have a Ainol Novo7 Aurora II tablet with Android 4.0.4 installed with a custom ROM Feiyu 20121105 installed. As it has a custom ROM, I cannot get a normal update installation to the latest Rom (Lollipop, or whatever).

Is it possible to get a Lollipop upgrade, and if so, from where, and what would be the procedure?

I'm sorry, but I would need the process to be fairly simple. I read something about "Android Magnet" being a suitable process.

Cheers

Once you are on a custom ROM the usual way of updating is to install a newer custom ROM.

If there is an official Lollipop update then flashing the phone back to official software (completely, recovery as well as ROM) would allow you to accept the update. If there isn't, the only way is if somebody has made a Lollipop ROM for that device. ROMs are always device-specific, so there is no generic way of updating the device - if nobody has built Lollipop for that specific tablet then the only way you can do it is if you learn how to build it yourself (which may be a very large amount of work).

Chinese cheapo tablet with a Chinese custom ROM..hmmm.. OK! So someone has evidently been making a custom ROM for it. There's something about this Feiyu (never heard of it) ROM here.

Might be bad luck for getting a manufacturer's ROM for this particular tablet. Ainol seem to have discontinued tablets completely, and just making smart-watches. As for getting Lollipop for it now...zilch..no chance. It's probably very difficult to make a good profit with cheapo tablets, far too much competition and margins are minimal or non-existent. Cheapo smart-watches are probably the same, but it's the latest fad of course. :thumbsupdroid:

EDIT

Is it Ainol or is it Apple?

...and don't bother trying to find manufacturer firmware for your Ainol tablet.
