Updating Cyan Mod

I'm the village idiot - and okay with that.

I've got CyanogenMod 7.01 on my DINC. Using ROM Manager I downloaded the latest (7.1 I believe).

I clicked "Installed from SD Card" and found the ZIP.
Clicked that.
The phone boots into what I think is called the Bootloader screen where I can use the volume button to move through the choices

HBOOT and FASTBOOT are highlighted in blue.
(Recovery, Clear Storage, Simlock, and Factory Reset are the other choices).

Choosing FASTBOOT redraws this screen and present FASTBOOT in red and BOOTLOADER in Blue. (Reboot, Reboot bootloader, and PowerDown are the other choices).

which do I want and what should happen? (I've tried a couple of choices with no apparent effect)

Thanks.

You need to boot into recovery. Make a nandroid backup, then wipe cache/data/dalvik. Then hit Install Zip from sd card, find the zip, and flash it.

I have selected the "Boot into recovery" from ROM Manager but the NANDROID choice doesn't appear in the list of options. I get
  • Bootloader
  • REBOOT
  • REBOOT BOOTLOADER
  • POWER DOWN

Any suggestions?

That is your boot screen. There should be an option there for recovery. Since there is not, it's likely you don't have a recovery flashed.

Thanks Aysiu,

The screenshots on Ubuncat were very useful but Recovery still wasn't working. I re-flashed Cyan Recovery, deleted the .zip from the root of the SD card and then re-downloaded it, one of those things did the trick.

Much obliged.
