Updating Free Apps??

Unfortunately my lovely Desire S got wet and I had to buy a new one (I'm trying to get it repaired to sell on eBay, but couldn't survive in the meantime!).

So, I had to re-install my apps from the Marketplace as I couldn't do a backup and restore. When I did this, I noticed that a lot of the free apps had newer versions (eg Skype now has video! woo hoo!).

In the past, I did get notifications when my purchased apps had updates available or I could see it when I looked at 'My Apps' in Android Market. However, now that I think about it I don't recall ever getting notification of updates to free apps?

Have I missed something here? Do you really not get notified of updates to free apps?

I think that it only checks every so often (maybe once a day?) for updates. When I look at my apps, I'll often notice it has updates I was never told about, but if I ignore them, eventually I'm notified.

Thanks. Yes - I've definitely got the same for Purchased apps. But I don't think I've ever got it for Free apps. Do you get notifications of updates for Free apps?

Thanks. How do you actually see these updates? When I go into My Apps in Android Market, I only see my purchased apps. I don't see any free apps.
