Root Updating from T-Mobile LG G Stylo 10e

I have a T-Mobile LG G Stylo with the 10e software version. I got root on it about 10 days ago but have not done much else because of the MM 6.0 rumblings. I am interested in updating to 6.0 since there is root available for it. My question is, do I need to remove root before I let my phone update itself? In other words, will running the already-downloaded system update (my guess is the one downloaded is still not MM, but 10i or 10j) cause any problems other than removing root? Once I update to MM 6.0 then I will root according to guide. Thanks!

Your phone will not take the update if you're rooted, the update will fail. My suggestion is flash the 10j kdz and wait for the ota's.

Thanks Blu8! I noticed that SuperSU has a "Full Unroot" option. Is that something that would work? Otherwise, I probably need to install TWRP to get the 10j KDZ on there. Could you point me to the right KDZ and TWRP threads so that I can be sure I am installing the right stuff. I really appreciate your help. Thanks again!

No that wouldn't work, it would remove the SuperSU binaries but any changes you've made to /system would still prevent the update from coming through. You don't need TWRP to install a kdz, here's a good guide for that.

For what it's worth, I used LG Bridge to update to 10L and got the OTA update a few nights later. I like that MM on the T-Mo Stylo is as easy to root as a Nexus.

Thanks a lot for your help guys! I'm at 10j now and waiting for OTA update. Tried LG Bridge but it says phone is up-to-date. Phone does say there is an update ready to download for it, but I guess it is 10l as it is only about 145 MB.

Go to settings & turn off Auto-date & Time & change the time to 12 am & reboot your phone then go to system updates and you should see a system update

That is what I did and my phone is running MM now. Will wait a little bit more to root until most potential issues surface and are sorted out.

That's definitely the smart thing to do, having been on it a full week though, I can't say I've run into any trouble at all.
