Updating issue + many other issues

When I try to update from settings, it just hangs or stops and I have to cancel it. I has other couple of big probems. It won't install skype at all with law memory error, though I have enough memory. Other big issue is that it doesn't sync viber contacts with phone's at all. It just gives message to try again later.
 
What device do you have?

If it is Samsung have you tried updating through Kies?

Otherwise you might just want to factory reset then update.
 
Rooting is the process of gaining administrator access (in Windows parlance - "root" is the linux superuser account). Gives you more options for optimising your phone, though the warranty on a rooted phone is generally void.

As DC asked, what device do you have? That will help give better advice.

Also how much storage do you have in total, and how much free? It will try to keep 10% free as working space (for caches and app data), so if you are near 90% unused it may refuse to install an app even if there is on paper space for the app. That might be your problem with Skype.

I did update firmware but still many probs with Skype and Viber specially. Don't know how to downgrade their versions to see if they work.
