Updating Orange Hero to 2.73.61.66

Hi guys,
I like the rest of the Orange HTC Hero crew am awaiting the update to 2.1, It seems that the 1st update is ready but I'm advised that I must be on 2.73.61.66

I have HTC Sync installed and connected with no problems but when i Run the RUU Rom it connects, starts to update (I get the bootloader white screen on my Hero) but then disconnects whilst the PC shows waiting for bootloader and counts up.

I then get the error saying that it cant connect with Android.

Any ideas?
Cheers
Woody

HTC Hero 1.5 on Orange Build 2.73.61.5
PC running Windows 7

Run the .exe again, after the first click on next, search for ROM.zip in C:/Users/appdata ??, then move file to your SDcard, leave it outside any folder, rename the file to HEROIMG.zip.
Turn phone off, press volume down + power at the same time and follow the instructions... :)
Once you're all set, I recommend you go to HERO forums and check out rooting guides, so you can get the correct drivers for your phone on Windows 7.

This is driving me up the wall now.
What exactly do you mean by find Rom.zip, i only have the 1 file and its the .exe file. When I click next the first time it doesnt place anything in the appdata folder.

I havent had any updates yet (pressumably down to this issue). Surely the updates would work on all builds, not everyone is going to sit and try and change their build version via PC.

any help would be welcomed

I too would like to know more.

lewoody, at least you are getting further than I, mine bombs out with an error [170] no connection.

I have the latest HTC sync and the W7 drivers.

Check out the instructions in this post, fellas. Ignore the references to x64.... it's proven to also work with 32-bit Windows. No guarantees but this will at least ensure that the correct drivers load as required, and a driver issue is the usual cause of Sync problems.

Let us know how you get on.
