and unfortunately it didnt work, when i turn off the cell and do what you said it takes the phone to the charging icon and it goes away and thast it, nothing else happens.

any other advice?

much appreciated

power button + up = fastboot
power button + down = flashmode

green light is flashmode and if it's blue light then it is in fastboot

i could tell you how i did mine but it involved flashing and rooting it

If you haven't updated yet, don't bother...

As soon as I have enough charge I'm flashing back to GB.

Reception during calls is dire, WiFi signal is so bad that I can't connect to my router downstairs, battery life is worse than GB .73 and the touch buttons seem less responsive to.

That's strange you should think that, because I was only thinking how much more responsive my phone is since moving to ICS - everything seems so much more "snappier".

Admittedly, I'm comparing this to my T-Mobile branded firmware that I was using beforehand and which, imho, was terrible. Everytime I rebooted the phone, I'd get random apps failing to display properly (there would be a grey icon where it should be), and clicking on the icon would say the app wasn't installed. Rebooting again, would cause a different app (or set of apps) to not be displayed. Ocasionally, all would be OK (but only very rarely), but most times I'd have to reinstall to offending app. Also, lately I'd been experiencing the phone hanging, which required a hard reboot.

Debranding and upgrading to the stock firmware has made a huge difference. All my apps display after a reboot and, so far, I've had no hangs.

Battery life is hard to compare at the moment, but if it is worse, I wouldn't say it was by much.

*** edit ***
for information, I'm running Build number 6.1.A.0.453

Hi powerkiter, did you flash back to GB ?

Yep, and all the silly little apps I missed work again and my battery is at 80% rather than 50% fully signal bars and I can sit downstairs and use my WiFi again :)

Cool :D think I'll do the same. Did you do a clean install by wiping all your data?

Yeah clean install, did the usual back ups and saved off my pictures and videos then just flashed back again...

Sony said ics would be out on time and it was but my god was it crap lol...

ICS > GB

i have good battery life.

37% left - Total Running 1d 7h 12m 59sec

Screen - 44%
Cell standby- 21%
WiFi - 17%
Phone Idle - 11%
Android System - 4%
Mediaserver - 3%

Well last night I flashed back to gb uk.75, my backup ftf, with a clean install, everything was fine untill I tried to plug my phone into the laptop and I got the dreaded connection error to pcc and no matter what I done it just would not connect :( and I certainly was not going to start uninstalling pcc, sus ect and reinstalling and probably stuffing up flashtool and fastboot in the process.

So I created another ics ftf of uk generic .453 and flashed back with a clean install.
Here's the strange part my phone is now running perfectly, fingers crossed, it's not laggy, battery seems good for a fresh install, it seems as stable as gb :)

I did root again with ics advanced 11 kernel and I have put most of my apps back on, one thing I haven't put back on is better battery stats, the free one because that seemed to be draining a fair bit of battery itself, also tweetcaster, free one again, because of the ads.

So far it's looking good so my advice is if your having problems with ics is to flash a clean install via flashtool and give it another try because when I updated via pcc it would seem that the firmware got corrupted along the way.

When posting stats like that, press the display text and post how long the screen has actually been on, the screen is the move power hungry thing on the phone.

As it stands atm, I'm on ICS and have 13% left with only an hour and half with the screen on, though I have had a lot of music playing though the loudspeaker this time round.

The battery isn't epic, but it lasts.

I am considering getting a GB ROM and trying that.
Though remember, gb is more... Refined now.

One thing I noticed last night when I flashed back to gb was that you get that annoying update available icon show up that you can't get rid of lol

it said screen on - 2hrs (cant remember the minutes)

it lasted pretty long for a smartphone,. my old phone didn't last with all the usage i use it for. if it last 12 hours i am happy as i do 1 full charge every night.

im considering going to GB to see if tasker works on it. doesn't work in ics 4.0.4
