Updating your phone?

So, I'm trying to do a software repair on my phone due to my wifi/bluetooth issue thing as suggested by everyone here and by SE as well...

But, whenever I try...nothing happens.

I get this screen during the update...

And I follow the instructions to the letter...and nothing happens. I just get this whole shebang with mounting the SD card...and then we're back to the first screen.

I'd like to think that I'm pretty tech savvy...and maybe I'm missing something but those of you who update through the PC companion...what's supposed to happen? Lol.

Hmmm, nice suggestion but it still runs me through the same instructions...and I get the same results just with a bigger screen. >_<

Press and hold the BACK button BEFORE plugging the cable in.
As well, rather than plugging the cable into the phone, start with the cable plugged in to the phone, and then:

1) Phone off
2) Hold Back button
3) Plug USB end of cable into PC.

Try that.

It might sound a bit odd but if you can't get it to work on one PC use a different one, beg borrow steal from a friend or family member.

Mine worked first time on my netbook and then wouldn't let me put the phone in boot mode. Tried it on son's PC... went through fine. I have given this advice to a lot of posters and have had good feedback on it working.

I had the same problem and it turned out that the PC wasn't detecting the phone in flash mode, I ended up using a diffrent USB port and holding the button for ages so the PC could install the drivers for the flash, once it had installed the drivers the update service had no problems at all.

Make sure you are actually turning off the phone. Hold the power button for about 3 seconds and then select the option to "Power Off".

Seems like it was a problem with my computer after all. Thanks for all the help guys! Let's see if it fixes my WiFi probs.
