The "2014 upgrade" was a new tablet, not a software upgrade.
The only recent software upgrades are 4.3 (Jellybean) and 4.4 (KitKat). Whether those will be available for your phone is up to the manufacturer and the carrier, but since the 762 is Gingerbread hardware, that's highly doubtful. Running Jellybean on a Gingerbread phone just makes the phone look terrible (slow, laggy, glitchy and out of room almost at the start).
