Upgrade Android OS On a HTC Legend?

Hi, I've had my HTC Legend for roughly 3 months now, and its currently running AndroidOS v2.1v2,
i was wondering if anyone could help with upgrading to version 2.2 or even possibly 2.3, as the one thing bugging me is 2.1 doesnt allow you to 'install to SD' which is quite horrible as the phone doesnt have much in built storage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2 )then take " about phone "
3 )go to " system software updates "
4 )"check now " and update
