Long story short, Pop want my OG Razr MAXX. He want to buy me whatever I want and trade.

I am looking at the new Droid MAXX or the Samsung Galaxy IV.

Which one would you take or what other would you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance

I'm right there with u. To me I don't see much of a change btw the og razr and the newer ones. The s4 is nice but I can't stand the build quality compared to my RAZR. Def a nice phone and with its popularity that means updates will come on a regular basis. I'm personally waiting for something way better b4 I upgrade. The new motos like ultra, and x don't do it for me. Neither have the battery life or a SD card slot as well as u lose the HDMI port. HTC one seems pretty nice but no SD either. S4 would be the best option for ur $ if u have to upgrade now. Unless u are happy as I am with my RAZR but I can't see wasting a upgrade date for almost the exact same phone. That's my two cents. Good luck!

I would go with the new Droid Maxx, it has been getting some pretty good reviews. Some reviews are saying the battery on the new Droid Maxx is better than the S4. Plus the new Maxx has that Active Display that only lights up what it needs to for notifications. Just for that reason would be a buy for me.

I went from the Droid Bionic to the Droid Maxx. It is an incredible device. After setup and "settle in time" I tested the battery and with GPS always on I got 2d 16h 8m on battery. Since there is no SD-Ext card the 32GB of storage makes a lot of sense to me.

The Droid Maxx may not appear to be much different than the original Maxx, but it is, by a whole lot. I had an OG RAZR and this device is heads above that. You wouldn't be disappointed. Just read some reviews about the Moto X, which is basically the same thing, but with a smaller battery. All say the same thing, that it's a toss up between the HTC One and the X for the best device at the moment...

<edit> Also, The screen is larger with the Maxx than the X. But physically it's not really any bigger at all than the old RAZR... Pretty cool stuff.

Yea upon further review I would agree that the new Maxx is pretty damn nice. Why do they get rid of SD card though?!?! Drives me nuts. I'm getting tempted to go with the note3. The rumored specs are impressive but idk if I'm ready to carry a phone that is that big. Its def a toss up at this point. The build quality is crap on samsungs vs moto but the features seem to outweigh the cons to me.

I think that with the LTE network being built out, that the cloud is the way all the manufacturers are leaning for data storage... I don't think I'll ever need more than 32 GB onboard, but I understand the folks who might, and do.

Agreed. All of my pix and vids go on Google + anyway and my music only takes up a certain amount of gigs with the rest being on my computer that I can pull from moto cast app. Does anyone know if the moto cast is on the new maxx? Not a deal breaker BC they make similar apps out there I just have become accustomed to it.
