Upgrade to Note 2 or Note 3?

Most of you guys can probably wait for the Note 3 much easier then me because it unlikely that you guys have been using a 7 year old non smartphone since 06.

My brother in law is convincing me to buy the Note 2 once the Note 3 come out because it would be a few hundred dollars cheaper, but he bought his use which I would never do. This is going to be my first smart phone purchase (own a Iphone 3gs given to me by a friend) so it going to be a very special occasion for me. He also isn't gaming intensive on his phone like I would be doing so the higher spec and 1080 screen doesn't matter to him.

The decision is slightly harder for me because the Note 3 did not have the majority of things I was expecting. I thought the Note 3 would have the following: front facing speaker, 3500 mah battery, flexible screen, 16 megapixel camera with S-orb technology, 6 inch screen, and wireless charging.

Nonetheless it has something that the Note 2 (U.S) does not have, and that is 32gb, which is important for games and other apps.

So the question is should I get a Note 2 or Note 3? Will the air command be available to Note 2 user in later updates? Is $450 for Note 2 a better deal than $750 (tax) for a Note 3? Is all the processor and spec worth it on the Note 3 for that price?

Thanks

Whether you go with the N2 or N3, you won't get most the specs you say you were expecting. Neither have front facing speakers, no flex screen, each have sub 3500mah batteries and neither have 6" screens.

But to answer your question, if money isn't an issue, then always go for the latest and greatest. If saving money is key, the N2 will suffice. All the air gestures and everything the N3 has, I'm sure will be available in a later updates. The N2 is good enough to play all the hotest game titles out now.

Based on the info you've given us, since you've never had a smartphone before, not sure why you were expecting the specs you mentioned. That's just really odd for someone that's never had a smartphone.

Anyhow, your decision between the two has to be based on what you feel your needs are. Without a doubt, if you plan to do a lot of gaming, as well as media consumption that require large sized apps, get the Note 3.

I have had the Note 2 for 11 months and it's going into Best Buy tonight to get maximum trade-in value, prior to the Note 3 release next week. I absolutely loved my Note 2, but my only complaint about it since day 1 is that it didn't come in 32 or 64gb internal storage form here in the US. That was extremely frustrating.

Now, if money is an issue, then you should be able to get a really good deal on the Note 2. I also preface that to let you know that, when I had purchased my Note 2 last year, 3 weeks after I got it, the price was on special for $99 bucks and I was able to get a price match at Best Buy (prior to Best Buy changing their price match policy).

So, if you're willing to wait a little while, I'm sure there'll be a special limited time deal, where the Note 3 will be offered at a lower price.
