Upgrade to S4?

So I am trying to decide on whether or not to use my Verizon upgrade to get the Galaxy S4. I currently have an S3, and before that I had an iPhone 5 (which is in the ocean).

My hesitancy with upgrading to the S4 is the problems I have with the S3.

1) Battery life is terrible, although I suppose I could buy an extended Battery.

2) To get GPS to lock on is a miracle, and for it to stay locked on throughout the duration of the trip is highly improbable.

3) Usually takes a long time to download files/mms, even when connected to 4g.

4) I feel like the S3 is getting a little slow, or I could just be getting used to it more.

Can anyone reassure me or, better yet, provide me with their experience with the S4. Will I experience the same kind of issues? Or is there a better android phone?
