Upgrading android version

I already own this phone for about a year but my android version still 4.1.2 ( jellybean) and I want to upgrade my phone to latest version.Can I automatic download it or can someone teach me step by step ??

You can root and install a custom ROM to upgrade (if available) but if you hold on, Samsung have officially announced the phone will get KitKat (4.4): Official: Samsung bringing Android 4.4 KitKat to 14 different Galaxy devices

How to root ? I know custom rom can be downloaded from play store

Custom ROMs can't be downloaded from Play, you need root and to install a custom recovery for that.

There is root info in there, but I'd honestly hang fire and wait for the upgrade. I can't see any KitKat ROMs for the S3 Mini.

hey i received an update on my samsung s3 mini and i downloaded it..after installing the download i cant rearrange my apps manually in app tray..all im doing now is palcing the icons in alphabetical order.can anyone help me how can i rearrange manually my apps in apptray.

through OTA..but it didnt changed the version..im on same 4.1.2 but im not able to rearrange my apps in main apptray..can anyone help
