Help Upgrading Firmware Version using Kies

Hi, I have my Samsung Galaxy S for about a month now.

Whenever I connect my phone to my laptop, Kies always ask me if I want to upgrade my Current Firmware Version: PDA:JH1 / PHONE:JI1 / CSC:JH1 (TGY) to Latest Firmware Version: PDA/JPE / PHONE:JPE / CSC:JPE (TGY). I have a good connection to the internet yet it always get interrupted like, Connection timed lost. but whenever that message popped my phone is displaying "Downloading.... Do not turn off target" for about 5 hours.

Is that normal?

I have exactly the same problem with my Galaxy 5 (GT-I5500) when trying to update. I got it to work once, but I dont remember what I did. So I'm joining this thread..
