Root Upgrading Rooted Phone to 2.3.5

I followed the instructions set out on this forum and rooted my Desire S using Revolutionary. When I got the notification for the 2.3.5 update, I tried to apply it but at some point during the install it got stuck and there was a blue android inside an orange warning triangle. None of my buttons were working so I pulled out the battery and my phone started again normally.

I did a google and turns out for a lot of users their phones were bricked after seeing that image and they had to send them in for repairs. So my question is, can we who have rooted our phones upgrade successfully or not?

@TheLostProphet

Why why why why I tell you! It drives me up the wall around the bend and ..... okay thats all.

To my point, you s-offed your phone, thus you modified it, did something that HTC do NOT allow, so why would you try install something which was meant for a stock phone?

It is a fixable problem mostly...

Please run this fastboot
fastboot getvar all
Remove your serial and imei number

Post the results and I will direct you a RUU you can install and what to do next.

It's because I am an Android n00000b lol. Ok mate, I'll do it tomorrow morning as it's midnight here. I have installed certain Apps that make use of a Rooted phone. Should I root it again after I have upgraded to 2.3.5?

Why upgrade it with a stock ota update :s, there's loads of custom roms to flash mate, ranging from android 2.3.5 to 4.0.4, there's no point updating ota
