Help Upgrading TAB ... Transfer Nandroid?

Hello, I currently use a Galaxy TAB 3 8.0" WIFI (SM-T310), and am looking at upgrading to a Galaxy TAB S 8.4" WIFI (SM-T700).

I have my current TAB 3 rooted and setup exactly the way I like and want it (with all apps, games, shortcuts, screens, folders, etc ... working perfectly) ... I am very happy with my trimmed down (De-Bloated) 4.2.2 ROM on my TAB 3 as it works smooth, stable with great power management, so I am not particularly interested in upgrading my Android version, or using the newer 4.4.2 Android version that comes supplied on the TAB S 8.4".
The only reason I am doing this upgrade is because some of my 3D games run slowly on the TAB 3.

So I was wondering If it is possible to simply make a Nandroid of my TAB 3, and then restore that Nandroid onto the new TAB S ?

Would this work? Would a TAB 3 Rom be able to utilise the TAB S hardware correctly?
What pitfalls could I possibly encounter?

For the actual Nandroid Transfer process ... Would I need to Root the TAB S and put custom recovery on it before I can attempt to restore TAB 3 Nandroid? (I haven't got the S yet, so don't know much about how they are setup at the moment).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or tips as I would really like this to be able to be done rather than having to start all over again with setting up a new device from scratch again, to get it all the same as I already have.

Cheers

It absolutely would not work, sorry. You cannot restore ROM from one device onto a different model.

You could of course back up your apps (e.g. using Titanium Backup), copy the backup to the new device and restore there, but not system data of any sort (same as if you change ROMs on the same device you must not restore system settings from the earlier ROM). Of course you can also use Google to restore app data to the new device too, or a non-root backup app like Helium.

I dont think this will work out. but you can try it if you want.
But before you transfer the nandroid backup to another tab i recommend you to make another nandroid backup of the device you are tranfering the files to. So that if something goes wrong with your new device you can restore it later.
And yes you will be needing a custom recovery to restore your files.

It WILL NOT WORK. Don't waste your time trying, the probability of success is precisely zero.

The best you could hope would be that the recovery would refuse to install the ROM. Android *always* has to be built for the specific device, so you can never install a ROM built for one device onto another.
