Help Upgrading to ICS?

Twitchyyy

Lurker
I Have the at&t galaxy s2 i777 I believe, my teacher rooted the phone and put cm7 on the phone for me. I read that ICS is dropping this thursday the 15th for all galaxy s2's. So i wanted to know how I would go about upgrading to the official ICS and not some buggy cm9 version of it any help?

That was said to be for the international version (it was released yesterday by the way). Our AT&T i777 i'm guessing will take a while till we see official. Not a fan of cm anything or roms myself

Sent from my HTC EVO View using Tapatalk.

Please read those articles before you jump into ICS. Do not upgrade to ICS. That upgrade is for the international version and will screw up your phone. There is no official word on when its coming to the US. Anyone can speculate but no one knows for sure. Be patient.

You don't. I'm on the phone with Samsung because I tried this and now my phone doesn't work, warranty voided. The best Samsung can do is have me send them my phone to attempt to refresh back to Gingerbread. Stupid Hurts!!!

people who dont read, deserve what they get when they try to upgrade their phone to a rom that doesnt belong on their phone. (and I'm not talk to you specifically, mmcdougall2). You know how many people on XDA tried to flash a 9100 rom on their 777 and couldn't figure out why the capacitive buttons and phone calls dont work? read!!

Hi, sorry to barge in (and a few days late at that) but I'm very new to Android and yesterday misled by someone who posted pics of their ATT GS2 running ICS tried to upgrade to the international version without prior research of how dangerous it was, a dumb move I never plan on making again.

As many reported, I found out later, my voice calls were not working (which makes me question if the guy who posted the facebook pic of his screen on ICS receives or makes calls in the first place since he seemed proud), I however used a guide on the XDA forums dedicated to getting the phone into stock state in case you have return or send for repairs using Odin I believe

The file was called I777UCKH7-CL503881-No-BL

Anyway after I did that my phone returned back to normal running Gingerbread on 2.3.4 except for my bootloader saying I'm on I9100 which I plan to solve later if ever. I had to do a reset afterwards since some google apps werent loading correctly but all in all it was fixable so if it's late for mmcdougall2http://androidforums.com/members/mmcdougall2.html I'm sorry but anybody else please try that before doing something expensive.

PS Download mode didn't seem to be working in the usual way in that ICS Rom but I found out you can press down volume + home button + power to put it in download mode, likewise if you press volume up instead of volume down and the same other buttons you enter E3 recovery mode for the wipe.

Hope this helps anybody and doesn't annoy anybody.

your bootloader is fine. Your phone says "9100" at startup because you're using a modified recovery. Thats not going to cause any problems. As long as your voice calls work and the capacitive buttons are in order, you're fine.
