Root Upgrading to Kitkat / firmware?

Dabitz

I was trying to upgrade my original N7 to KitKat Liquid Smooth but installation failed. Is there a system/firmaware upgrade I have to do first (like I had to to with my Note 3) before being able to install a KitKat ROM? I have been running Paranoid for a very long time.

Thanks for the advice.

Update: I tried installing CM11 and it failed as well. I'm definitively missing a step.

i had this same issue when i tried to download the file on the tablet so i had to download it on my pc first then transfer to tablet and it installed fine.

Hmmm, I did that, even checked MD5 (at least on the computer side) My current android version is 4.2.2 w/Paranoid 3.67. Is that an issue? Just wanted to make sure there is no firmware upgrade I had to run. Of course I'm doing a full wipe. I'm downloading again. Thanks.

shouldn't matter what firmware your on because it wipes /system and all it does is copy new rom to /system so even if previous firmware was an issue it would still flash it.
you can also try using the nexus root toolkit to flash it.

My TWRP version is 2.4.0.0, I think that's what the problem is. Let me see find out what's the easiest way to upgrade that.... Oh boy... :-) Another restore in the works. Thank God for nandroids (and for your help).
