Root upgrading to LiquidSmooth ICS - Where do I begin?

It's been almost a year since I've played with ROMs on my phone. I first rooted before Revolutionary was around. Now, I read somewhere that before updating to ICS, I should do a full wipe of SD card and everything and even a factory reset before flashing the new ROM, but since it's been so long, I sort of forgot where to begin.

Do I need to unroot and revert to a stock ROM and do a factory reset and sd card wipe there?

This is the info my bootloader gives me:
Mecha XD ENG S-off
HBOOT- 1.04.2000 (pg0510000)
microp-/
radio 1.49.00.0406w_1
eMMC-boot

I'm using CM7, and ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.1

Lastly, I'm on a new computer which does not have ADB installed or anything else related to rooting/unrooting. Where do I begin? Let me know if more info is required. Thanks!

To be honest, I would have thought that, as you are rooted, you would only need to put your new ROM on the root of your SD card, boot in to recovery, perform a backup (for just in case), perform wipes (system/factory reset/cache) and then install zip (choosing the zip from the SD card). You shouldn't need to unroot, etc :)

I would wait for someone else who has your phone to verify that (you never know... it could work completely differently for your phone, compared to mine).

You're probably best waiting for confirmation from someone who has a bit more knowledge on the Thunderbolt then... sorry... not meaning to give wrong info :)

While it may be recommended to wipe your SD card, it's not necessary. I flashed liquid ics 1.5 without formatting my card and I haven't run into any issues.

Just make sure you wipe cache, dalvik cache, and date in recovery after making a nandroid backup

keep in mind that the bamf rom is based on a leak, and is not perfect. it is also likely to have issues if it has been modified to work with older firmware.

unrooting/running an ruu is unneccessary, and not recomended.

reformating the sd might be nice to get a "fresh start with ICS,but as said above,is defiantely not a neccesity.

one of the ICS radios has been leaked,it may be to your advantage to flash that as well.

just do a full wipe of data/cache/dalvik cache, and if your recovery has options wipe or format boot and system. then flash the rom :)

yeah there's so much old junk on my sd card that i'd feel better about backing some of it up and wiping it. so if that's all I'm gonna do, and then just the normal wipes for the other stuff that ive done plenty of times when trying out different roms, i should be able to get it from here! Last thing though,I belive I have radio version MR2, but what's agood way to check? i just dont want to flash a new radio if I dont have it. (Or, is the leaked ICS radio newer and necessary for all ICS ROMs?)

I'm not sure about radio version numbers. As for the new radio being required, you should be able to use the radio from 605.19 (that's what I'm running with no problems). Though it can be good to experiment with different radios.
