Help Uploading .doc online

Hi
On my Nexus S I had a .doc saved but couldn't find it. LOL
I got a file manager app and now good to go...but

I am sending out letters responses to online ads, and can
upload the .doc file on my pc.

But when i try to upload the .doc file from my phone, the website
that is asking for the file gives an error message "invalid format".

The format is not invalid. Will I only be able to do this function
on my PC and not the phone as I am out and about?

Use ES File Explorer as your file explorer. It helps upload files to websites properly. I use it to upload doc files to websites without issue.
