Uploading music files

I often transfer music between my computer and samsung galaxy sii skyrocket by copying folders of mp3s to the "music" folder on my phone. Sometimes the folders will show up on my phone under "albums," but sometimes they don't, and it seems arbitrary as to which ones will show up properly in my music player. Any suggestions? Also, is there a preferable method for transferring files to an android device? Any help would be appreciated.

After you transfer the files ... try disconnecting the phone, power off, and then power on. It could be that the albums are "refreshed" when it is initially loaded.
