Urgent / Emergency SMS Alerts

Hi,

Just looking at a couple of android apps at the moment including:

- Yes It's Urgent

- Urgent Contact!

These two applications monitor SMS messages, and if a message comes through with a particular code word - makes the phone go nuts. (Even if it's on silent mode... will still make sounds) - to grab the attention of the owner.

If the owner isn't there - it will continue to alert until the owner or someone else hears (such as in a noisy environment).

I'm looking for such an application for use in urgent / emergency situations where I'm unable to contact certain people.

I was wondering if anyone has had experienced with either or both of the above, and has any recommendations?

From my initial tests they appear to work relatively well. The only issue I face at present is that if I'm on a long phone call - the alert will not go off. After I hang up - it still doesn't go off.

I'd love to have something that will alert me immediately - regardless of whether I'm on a call or not. (True emergencies).

Thoughts?

I don't think it's possible for any apps to interrupt your phone call as far as I'm aware Google removed the ability for apps to do that a while back.

You can still play sounds though? (Such as when SMS messages come through). Wouldn't it be possible to continue to play those sounds on a repeat until something was done? (Like a nag?)

If there is an app that can do it Tasker would be able to. I haven't tried setting up an app quite like that but I do use Tasker to do things like auto respond to my SMS while I'm driving. Locate my phone lock it and send me it's location if I lose it, or sound an alarm regardless of current volume if I need to find it.
