Root Urgent help required - HTC Desire possible brick?

Hi everyone. I was trying to return my HTC Desire to the original ROM and the install failed. Now all I can see is this: (the HTC logo in the centre of the screen with an exclamation mark in a triangle at each corner).

Holding the volume and power button does not load the bootloader. The only thing I can do is remove the USB cable and a white screen is displayed which reads:

I can't seem to select anything at this point - none of the buttons on the phone do anything.

Can anyone offer any assistance or suggestions?

The only thing you can do is run an RUU (with the phone connected to a PC by usb). Fortunately as you have the Revolutionary hboot you can choose which RUU.

Were there any error messages when you ran the last one? I'm guessing a pu (partition update) failed. Which were you running? Also were you having any problems before running it?
