Help URGENT: OS DELETED

ryang1234

Lurker
I'm new to rooting and today I was going to flash a new ROM to my Samsung Galaxy s4 Mini. I was going too fast and wiped everything, including the OS. I tried flashing the new one, but it said "Error executing updater binary in zip". So I tried flashing the original 4.2 ROM and I got the same message. Is my phone bricked and unusable? Thanks.

Hello there!
ok, quick question since I assume you have no nandroid, what recovery do you have and what rom are you trying to flash?
(ok, so that was 2 questions :) ).
Well, here's a 3rd question, where are you getting the rom .zips from?
And forgive this next question, but I assume the device has a removable sd card?

Correct, I do not have a backup. I did, but I accidentally wiped it in that whole ordeal. I am using TWRP for my recovery and was trying to flash Lollipop, but now I would just rather go back to my stock Android. I believe I got the .zips from a forum post at XDA developers. I do not have an SD card in the phone, but I could get one.

The phone is now just stuck on the Galaxy logo. I tried flashing a recovery file from Odin and it says it worked but the device is still not working. I am a huge noob with all this, so bear with me here. I can access Download Mode but not Recovery Mode. Thanks.

Ah, at least you can get into download mode.
All right, I'm kinda familiar with ODIN and flashing stuff as I've messed with my S3 a few times so here goes:)

Are you getting the firmware needed for ODIN from sammobile.com?
If not, that is the place I recommend getting it from. Be very certain you flash the correct firmware for your device, carrier and most recent android version.
If you are not sure, just post some info here as far as the exact model number and your carrier and we can try to help:)

I found the exact ROM. Thank you I couldn't find it anywhere! I will update you after I try it, as the download is taking forever.

Just so I'm on the same page with you, when you say "ROM", do you mean a custom ROM from a developer, or do you mean firmware put out by Samsung flashable via ODIN?

When I think rom, I think of custom roms flashable in recovery.
