Urgent SMS auto-backup question

I am sure that with my HTC Desire (which my son now uses), that I simply chose on there to back up his SMS to my gmail account for safe-keeping. I don't remember downloading an app for that..... Anyhoo, I want the same arrangement on my daughter's Desire C but the in-built option only seems to allow manual backing up to a gmail account - I want it to happen seamlessly in the background. So, I downloaded the 'SMS Backup+' app but it only allows me to back up to my daugher's gmail account - I want it backed up to my gmail account as my computer gets regular backups performed on it unlike hers.

So the question is, does anyone know if any of the SMS backup apps out there don't force you to back up to the email account of the person whose phone it is, but allow you to select the gmail account that you do want to use. ??

Please please if someone could help I really really would appreciate it. :)

One question, why does it matter that your computer gets regular backups as compared to hers? It doesn't matter if the files are saved on Gmail. You can throw her computer into a fire and her SMS would still be saved on Gmail. FYI the Emails aren't saved on your computer, they're saved on the cloud. You can access them from any computer in the world.

Thanks for your reply.

Why it matters is a personal matter so unfortunately I can't discuss that.

What I need is help with which app will:

- back up in the background, automatically
- i can choose to have the sms's backed up to another email address other than the one which may be linked to the mobile phone in question.

If anyone can help with this to save me going through endless android apps trying to find one that will do this, it would be brilliant!

As I say, SMS Backup+ is a nice app but it only offers me to back up to daughter's email account, it doesn't offer the option to enter the email address you want.

SMS backup and restore can save the backup to a dropbox account of your choosing and can work in the background. Does it have to be Gmail:
