US Cellular not Releasing 2.2 or 2.3

I have given up all hope of them releasing updates to android for the mesmerize. It isn't going to happen...not now, not ever. Abandon hope.
 
You do know that all american variants of the galaxy s... Including the mesmerize... are all running 2.1. The only exception to that is the epic on sprints network. And they just got that like last week! It won't be long before the update comes. Why do you feel like it's that big of deal? The mesmerize has plenty of storage so apps to sd is not a major benefit... And, these phones run faster than most any phone on 2.2 currently anyway... If your concerned about performance... Run the one click lag fix found in the market... Major improvement!
 
No specific date has been announced. The Samsung Acclaim and HTC Desire will be upgraded in January with the Mesmerize and LG Apex following shortly after.

I have tried the latest version of this, v2, and it installs the ext4 files successfully, but when I try to then apply the fix, it fails. How do you make it work on the mesmerize? My phone is rooted.
 
Not sure how important the ext tools are to you... But, you might not be able to have them installed and run the lag fix also. Try to uninstall the ext tools, then run lag fix.. I looked at mine and noticed that the ext tools are not available to me... Maybe due to installed lag fix... Idk. Give it a shot. Can always go back to the way you had it.
 
I LOVE the vague release dates. Its funny, samsung and uscc will be releasing 2.2 while htc will be rolling out 2.3 for their big boy android phones. The evo (the phone I am coming from and will probably go back to) is expected to get the 2.3 first quarter of 2011. If samsung keeps with these slow rollouts of updates HTC is going to destroy them.

Every software release date is "vague" until it happens. There are way too many variables that go into code writing to be able to nail down a definite date more than 30 days in advance.

Granted, Samsung has a horrendous track record when it comes to update releases, but missing a stated target date is not something they invented.

Now that they've announced an "early next year" window, the best thing to do is quit worrying about it. Staring at the mailbox doesn't make the mail come any faster.

My experience with release dates like that, I'm more willing to bet March 31 than Jan 31. Just my .02

thanks! i did just that, got the lag fix, i found that i had to install the ext tools in order to apply the fix, not sure why but i could only get the 1.1 fix installed...im a noob. however this phone boots up now, i mean it did in the beginning but sheesh seemed like it was a bit glitchy/laggy. not anymore though. second fone i have ever owned (galaxy s i500) i bricked this phone the second day i had it! lol it works great now but talk about a crash course :/ thanks everyone for posting and also the support.

Not that it ever really matters what the companies say about "release dates" but USCC had announced earlier this quarter that the HTC Desire update would drop in February and the Mesmerize in March. The HTC update dropped in February, as announced.

Given that they still have 10 days to go, we can hold off on "where's the f$#$ing update" until they miss the March deadline they set for themselves.
 
That's the smartest thing I have yet.
I did call uscell and asked how we are going to get the updates when and if they come. we will ether need to go our uscell store and have them update the phone for us or go to the uscell site and go to your phone. In the description of the phone there will be Blue lettering that will say the there is an update available for that phone, it is also the link to the download.

That is not true. We need to hound USCC until the update comes through. NEVER AGAIN!!! We are paying for their service and we need to get PROMPT updates. If they release it in March it will only be because I have been so harsh to them on these boards.
