USB 3.0 vs 2.0

Since the S5 will come with a USB 3.0 cord and is capable of 3.0, will there be any downside to using any of the old cords I have lying around? Do we know if it will charge faster on 3.0? I know data travels much faster on 3.0, but doubt I'll do much if any transferring data via cable.

From what I've read on the topic, you can still transfer data and charge your phone with the old micro USB cable. However, it will transfer data faster (when connected to a USB 3.0 port on a computer) and charge faster from the USB 3.0 data cable.

This is the same as my Note 3,
I can confirm that what axel_2078 said is correct
all good to use the old cord (micro USB) to charge and/or do data transfer.

Do you notice it charging noticeably faster with 3.0, or is it basically just an advantage for data transfer?

I haven't tried using a standard micro usb cable on the Note 3 charger.
I use my old S3 charger at work and I can say that it will charge faster on the supplied Note 3 charger, but that would be from the voltage and amperage differences
