Help USB Connection HELL

Hey there
Before i begin i aknowledge in my opinion that Kies is the biggest pile or trash on the face of the earth, however i use it for varied reasons.

Some time back i was able to plug my USB cable / phone into my laptop and it would detect no issue.

Then recently the phone would not detect unless i rebooted it.

Now it wont do jack, specifically this is my issue:

  • My phone will charge from my USB cable on my pc but there appears to be no connectivity
  • The phone aknowledges a charge as it indicates that is what is happening
I have tried and noticed the following:
Re-installing Kies
  • Re-installing USB drivers manually
  • Restarting phone
  • Reinstall of firmware on phone ( done )
  • Changing USB Ports
  • Identifying if anything shows in my computer, it does not
  • Using another cable from another Samsung mobile
I am pretty good with these issues but this one is throwing me, my phone is not rooted and there is no setting that i can find that indicates a way to turn on "USB Mode"

May the best man win, cos im bloody lost :)

But is there any particular reason that you need KIES other than updating the firmware or accessing Samsung market or charging the phone while connected to the computer? I suggest you try MyPhoneExplorer FJ Software Development for taking backups/sync/archiving copying music onto the sd card etc & you have the choice of connecting via USB/Bluetooth/WiFi. Personally I use wifi for transferring music as that is a large quantity & Bluetooth for the usual backups/sync/archiving. I have not used the USB cable except to check if there is a update for the firmware. :D

it's pretty weird with me, my device sometime connects to Kies and sometimes it doesn't.. i'm unsure what the problem is.. thanks anyway

we get this question almost every week. but here it is again:

if your still having issues connecting via usb, try this:
1. go to "settings"
2. applications
3. development
4. USB development mode enable

location of this setting may vary, but should work, no guarantees though.

Thanks mate, i saw these threads but in my case it did not work, this is why i have made the post, only thin in the development section of my phone is USB Debugging, and this did squat lol
