Help USB Connection isn't working

I'm having trouble getting my phone to even recognize that I have a USB cord plugged into it and the computer. By trouble, I mean, I'm not getting an icon on the top of the phone in the notifications bar and My Computer isn't even recognizing it!

I have a MyTouch 3G 2.2.1

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Thanks!!

bring an original usb cable and see ur system has latest configuration, try switch on-off

Turn the phone off, then turn it back on. hook it up to the computer after...always works for me
