Anyone use this with Nexus 4 - does it work straight away when connected or is a USB App required ?

I think a bigger concern than application support should be the power requirement. The Nexus 4 doesn't push enough power out of its microUSB port to support any OTG devices. To get this to work, you'd need an OTG Y-cable with external power.
On the application support end, though, it doesn't look like anything additional is needed. Just plug it up (and make sure it gets power somehow) and it should work.
