USB DAC on i9000?

Is it possible to use a USB DAC with and SGS1 (i9000)? I know it is the SGSIII. I'm wondering if I can hook my old i9000 up to my Hifi via a DAC and stream lossless music from a NAS to my hifi. I'm ok with rooting, custom ROM's etc if that helps.

Well there are a lot of converters out there. I'm curious if you'd have to root and flash ROMs to accomplish what you want (I have to say though that I've not run the SG1 or 3), although it does seem like a lot of apparatus to stream from NAS to hifi.

Wavelength Audio (Wavelength Audio, USB DACS, Crimson, Cosecant, Brick, Proton, Tube DACs) specializes in converters for computers. I'm wondering if their products would be applicable to your situation.

Its always going to be a lot of aparatus. A Squeezebox plus mobile to control it, laptop plus DAC. All quite expensive as well, so just seeing if i can use what i have already. Saying that, I'm wondering if a cheap tablet or Android netbook would be a better solution, as alot of them have full USB ports, which is part of the problem with getting phones to work with a DAC.
