USB Debugging symbol

So i read most forums about the usb debugging. I did everything that many people recommended to get the"icon"on the notification, which was
1.go to settings
2.applications
3.development
4.then check USB debugging.
I did that all and nothing..i even tried checking it off and the symbol does not show up but my phone is charging? HELP!

You need to add the details of your devices in your profile. Just what do you want to use the debug for? My notification bar @ top shows it under the scroll down. I have an X.

I am having the same issue recently...my phone is a Samsung Moment (M900) just started recently, actually. I plug it into my computer and it'll charge but not give me the option to mount to computer. I'll uncheck then recheck USB debugging but nothing. Usually wind up having to restart my phone which will then give me the option. Very aggravating to have to do that though!
